While waiting for my favorite second hand bookshop to open in Koramangala today; I noticed this garbage truck. Pulls up right in front of me. Out jumps four people, a driver, supervisor,and three workers. Two start collecting garbage from outside the flowershop next door.
Unsorted garbage, organic material from the flower shop mixed with the plastics. The job itself is tough for them,healthwise a nightmare as one of them stands at the back of the truck in the middle of stinking garbage all day until their collection is done.
A thankless job, dirty and time consuming. How much do we help in making their work easier by sorting out our garbage into three bins? Wet bin,dry bin and a recycle bin/bag. A little effort when you throw something into the bin. Something worth thinking about.
